Brief profile
Introduction
Shri Suresh Jain, a multi-faceted educationist and industrialist, is the founder Chancellor of Teerthanker Mahaveer University and the Chairman of its sponsoring society. Teerthanker Mahaveer University is a Jain minority private university established under Act No. 30 of the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2008 and approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Teerthanker Mahaveer Group is governed by the Teerthanker Mahaveer Institute of Management and Technology (TMIMT), a society formed by a group of educationists, exporters and industrialists registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, at Moradabad, with the aim to establish state-of-the-art institutions for professional studies like Management, Technology, Engineering, Fine Arts, Medical and Dental sciences education.
A true philanthropist, Shri Suresh Jain dedicated his youth to the cause of rendering social service and nurtured the dream of imparting education to millions of Indians. Thus, he along with his father Late Shri Prem Prakash Jain in 1966 converted their village residence into a primary school named, Shri Madan Swaroop Intercollege, which today boasts of imparting free education to more than 3,000 underprivileged children. In the year 1971, this social entrepreneur came to the city of Moradabad to start his business of wood and subsequently brass exports in the year 1977. For the purpose of export business, he visited various advanced nations in Europe and across the Atlantic. It was during these foreign trips that he realized the importance of professional education in India. Inspired by Swami Vivekanada’s adage - "A nation is advanced in proportion to education and intelligence spread among the masses" - Shri Jain reared this dream for years and finally in the year 2001, he ventured into the world of professional education.
Achievements
A landmark in this voyage was the establishment of the Teerthanker Mahaveer Institute of Management and Technology in the year 2001, with a vision to impart quality professional education to the students of an otherwise educationally backward city. His immaculate determination, relentless pursuit of excellence, and strategic contributions in educational infrastructure culminated in the establishment of Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU) in 2008. TMU brought a revolutionary change in the region’s educational landscape with its exceptional and profound industry-relevant curriculum. Currently, the university has grown to about 14,000 students from all over India and has emerged as a hub of quality education.
Shri Suresh Jain took education far and wide without compromising on quality. That is the reason why more and more overseas universities are keen on a tie-up with Teerthanker Mahaveer University. Shri Jain is a strong vocal advocate for promoting job-oriented higher education and keeps articulating his vision for the future of an educated India. His philosophy of high thinking and simple living is a guiding light to many in the Moradabad area. Shri Jain might not have received enough documentation through newspapers but his contributions have filled many hearts with hope, stomachs with food, and individuals with knowledge.
